Full-spectrum CBD oil explained — and where to buy it in Adelaide

4 June 2026

Full-spectrum CBD oil is whole-plant hemp extract with a legal trace of THC under 0.3%. What it is, how it compares, and where to buy it in Adelaide, SA.

"Full spectrum" is a label term — it tells you which cannabinoids are in the bottle. Full spectrum CBD oil keeps CBD together with the plant's minor cannabinoids and a legal trace of THC under 0.3%: the whole hemp plant profile, nothing added, nothing stripped out. CBD Oil Adelaide carries full spectrum CBD oil for Adelaide and the rest of SA, lab-tested by batch and delivered to Adelaide CBD, Glenelg, Norwood, Prospect and Australia-wide.

This page explains what the terminology means, what is physically in the bottle, how to read the label, and what the legal position is in SA. Every sentence here is about composition — what an oil contains — not about what it does.

What does "spectrum" mean on a CBD label?

Spectrum simply names the range of cannabinoids present. The wider the spectrum, the more of the hemp plant's compounds are in the oil. CBD (cannabidiol) is always the main cannabinoid by weight; the question is what else came through extraction alongside it.

Hemp — Cannabis sativa L. grown as a low-THC variety — contains hundreds of compounds. For labelling purposes, "spectrum" collapses to three choices: full, broad, and isolate. Each one describes a production decision about what to keep and what to remove. The word carries no quality ranking; it is a factual description of make-up.

What full spectrum CBD oil specifically contains

Full spectrum CBD oil is a whole-plant hemp extract. The extraction did not strip anything out; CBD is kept alongside the minor cannabinoids that occur naturally in the same plant.

In a full spectrum oil you will find:

  • CBD (cannabidiol) — the primary cannabinoid and the one stated in the bottle's milligram figure.
  • Minor cannabinoids — small amounts of compounds including CBG (cannabigerol) and CBN (cannabinol), which occur in hemp alongside CBD.
  • Terpenes — aromatic compounds from the same plant, carried across in the extract.
  • Trace THC — kept under 0.3% in our oils. This is the permitted level for this category in Australia, stated on the label and confirmed in the batch Certificate of Analysis (COA).

The carrier in our oils is MCT (medium-chain triglycerides), a neutral oil derived from coconut. Every bottle is 50ml; the milligram figure on the label is the total cannabinoid content in that volume. Whole-plant hemp extract and hemp-derived CBD are two phrases for the same thing: oil made from the hemp plant without isolating a single compound.

Full spectrum CBD oil names the composition. It does not describe an effect.

Full spectrum vs broad-spectrum vs isolate

These three terms cover every CBD oil category on the market. The difference is purely what is kept versus removed.

Full spectrum CBD oil (this oil) keeps the complete plant profile — CBD, minor cannabinoids, terpenes, and the trace of THC under 0.3%. It is the least processed of the three.

Broad-spectrum takes the same whole-plant extract and runs it through an extra step that removes the THC, leaving 0% THC while keeping the other hemp compounds. For anyone who wants no THC at all, broad-spectrum is the alternative. Our broad-spectrum CBD oil page covers this in detail, and the broad-spectrum 1000mg shows our THC-free option.

Isolate strips everything except one compound. Our CBN oil is an isolate — cannabinol as a single cannabinoid, THC-free (CBN oil 1000mg). CBG oil is cannabigerol — the compound the hemp plant makes first — also available as a single-cannabinoid oil (CBG oil 1000mg).

None of the three compositions is inherently stronger than another. Strength is a separate variable: the milligram figure on the label.

Reading the label: what to check on any full spectrum CBD oil

Four numbers and one word give you most of what you need to verify any full spectrum CBD oil — ours or anyone else's.

Strength (mg) — total cannabinoid content in the whole bottle. Our range: 1000mg at $89.95, 3000mg, 6000mg, and 12000mg.

Concentration per ml — divide strength by volume. A 1000mg oil in 50ml = 20mg/ml; a 12000mg in 50ml = 240mg/ml. The dropper delivers a 0.5ml serving, so every bottle holds roughly 100 servings at the full dropper line.

Carrier oil — what the extract is dissolved in. Ours is coconut-derived MCT. If a label omits the carrier, that is missing basic composition information.

THC content — should be stated as a percentage. In our oils it is under 0.3% across all strengths. The exact batch figure sits in the Certificate of Analysis; for ours, email info@adelaidecbdoil.com.

Spectrum declaration — the label should state plainly whether the oil is full spectrum, broad-spectrum, or isolate. On our bottles, "full spectrum" means exactly what this article describes: a whole-plant hemp extract with a lab-confirmed trace of THC.

Is full spectrum CBD oil legal in SA?

The short answer for SA: yes, within Australia's national regulatory framework, which applies uniformly across every state and territory. In 2021 the Therapeutic Goods Administration reclassified low-dose cannabidiol (up to 150mg per day) as a pharmacist-only Schedule 3 medicine, opening a legal over-the-counter pathway. In practice, no product has been approved for retail sale through that specific route to date.

Higher-strength or prescription-grade cannabis products sit behind a doctor's prescription through separate TGA pathways. We describe our oils by composition, not as therapeutic goods, and we make no health claims. The rules for the category are set and published by the TGA.

Our oils are for adults 18 and over and are not suitable for anyone pregnant or breastfeeding. For any health-specific question, speak to your GP.
